This top 5 Florida family destinations (say that 3 times fast) was written by a friend of ours who is an avid Florida traveler and has provided us this wonderful take on what spots are great for families.

Traveling with family brings about its own set of challenges as everyone wants to partake in different activities and their perfect vacation to Florida may not be the same as yours.

Without further ado, we hope this article provides you help in determining how to pick your best Florida family vacations

Florida is brimming with so many perfect family destinations. After all, summer is a year round event here. What kid wouldn’t love the opportunity to dig their sand pail into the miles and miles of beaches that surround the Florida coastline? So go grab your sand bucket and we’ll review the top 5 Florida destination spots.

Family walking beach in FloridaOur first stop, although not a beach has to rank numero uno with kiddies ages one to a hundred – Orlando, FL. There are so many things to do in Orlando Florida with your family, but the one that tops the list by leaps and bounds is Walt Disney World.

Mickey and Minnie are enough to melt the hearts of all but throw in princesses, pirates and magical creatures and watch as their world comes alive. Orlando and Disney will always reign as one of the top 5 Florida family destinations!

Jacksonville Florida is up next because any place with a zoo is sure to entice children of all ages. But this is much more than a zoo, there’s something here to please everyone, including mom.

There are botanical gardens offering tours led by a staff of Horticulturists. You can take a train ride that circles the entire zoo and little ones will enjoy the Kids Zone. With over 1,500 rare and exotic animals who could resist this stop on the wild side.

Oh, and don't forget about the beaches on the Atlantic Shores, which we'll talk about in a minute. We talk a lot about this area in our Florida vacation sites featured section!

On to Jacksonville Beach and Adventure Landing, a place full of fun. Dad and kiddies alike will enjoy the miniature golf and batting cages while everyone will love the go-karts, laser tag and wacky worm rollercoaster.

If you’re tired of being land-locked it’s on to Adventure Island’s Shipwreck Island Waterpark. They claim to have slides from “mild to wild” along with a wave pool, kiddie cove and a relaxing river ride – definitely something here for everyone.

Family at one of their top 5 Florida family destinationsTo see Florida in its best and most undisturbed form a stop at Little Talbot Island State Park should be on your list while in Jacksonville.

The island is one of the last of its kind saved from development and the tourism industry. It boasts some of the most pristine beaches, taking up five miles along the Atlantic Coast. It's one of those hidden gems and the reason it's on our list of the top 5 Florida family destinations.

On the western side, salt marshes in their original form are worth exploring along with the coastal forests and desert-like dunes. If camping is your style there are forty Florida campgrounds available for everything from tents to thirty foot RV’s.

If butterflies are your passion, a trip to Ft. Lauderdale’s Butterfly World cannot be missed. Butterfly World is the largest butterfly park in the world with a minimum of 10,000 gorgeous butterflies on display at any given time. In staying with the nature theme, let’s head over to the Big Cypress Reservation and take a swamp buggy ride.

On this swamp ride you can see bison, eagles, wild hogs, rare birds and alligators to name a few. While on a swamp ride you get an elevated view while trekking through the water shed of the Florida Everglades.
