Let's Visit Siesta Key Florida & See if it's Right for Your Vacation!
Siesta Key Florida is a popular and well-known Florida beach destination. Mainly because it is always rated as one of the top destinations in Florida.
We have visited this area before, but only for a short time. So, we found some other Florida beach nuts who recently went there (in October).
Below they have shared their story with us regarding their trip to this area of Sarasota - Enjoy!
Patti, John, Kim, & Randy's trip to the Gulfcoast of Florida
Siesta Key is one of our favorite Florida vacation spots. Our family, as well as other friends, have spent many Spring Breaks in Siesta Key.
Last year we planned a week’s stay in October at a cute little two floor complex called the Crescent Towers that we’ve seen previously and always wanted to try.
It turned out to be just perfect. The Studio Apartments have either beach or poolside units. The first level has walk out patios right onto the sand and the 2nd floor level has screened in balconies.
They are fully equipped, with an open living area, eat-in kitchen, bath, bedroom section where some have a folding wall between the bedroom and living area that can be closed for privacy.
They are air conditioned and have TV/VCRs, laundry, heated swimming pool, BBQ grills and shuffleboard area. These charming units are walking distance to restaurants, shops and quaint boutiques, grocery stores, post office, pharmacy, banks, boat/bike/ski rentals, video rentals, fishing and para-sailing and diving.
We made travel arrangements (air & condo) for five couples. All of the couples are good friends and having them in close proximity made the trip a blast. The plan was to find airfare and lodging at economy prices.
We were successful in doing just that! We all flew from Cincinnati to Ft Myers aboard USA3000. USA3000 (www.usa3000.com) website lists one-way fares that are very affordable.

We monitored the site for months. One day the fare for our Florida week went from $139.00 to $69.00 and all five couples immediately booked it. Therefore, net airfare including taxes per couple amounted to approximately $300-$350.
We flew into Ft Myers, rented a car and drove about 45 minutes to our destination. After checking in and unpacking we checked out each others units (all are decorated differently) then headed over to Capt Curt’s Crab & Oyster bar for one of their grouper baskets and a refreshing drink. Capt Curt’s is a favorite eatery that we frequent each time we visit Siesta Key.
It’s walking distance from the Crescent Towers and the food is yummy. There are a variety of places to choose from, but have to mention Fillippi Creek, Jo-To Japanese Steak and Daiquiri Deck, which have always been good.
The beautiful fine-white sand is one of the reasons we are drawn back to Crescent Beach year after year. The beach extends for miles and has a soft and cool texture which makes walking most enjoyable.
Each morning we awakened bright and early to get a 2-3 mile walk in before breakfast. Many other exercise enthusiasts were out doing the same, walking, jogging, fishing, watching for dolphins or just strolling picking up shells.
Following our walk (and talk), we’d return to our balcony to have breakfast, sip coffee and watch others setting up their beach paraphernalia for the day.
After doing our “daily morning routines” we’d all gather out by the beach with our chairs arranged in a U shape to view the ocean, for easy conversation and people-watching, reading (if you could amongst those talking and telling stories)….and mainly to RELAX!
One couple brought a couple of beach games and would play Frisbee or paddle ball seeing who could out-last who. One gal got the nickname “Beerrun Sue” for she would make a run to the condo to restock the coolers singing B – double E – double R – U – N “BEERRUN”!!!!!

Later in the afternoons, some would move to the pool or go shopping, and then we’d all freshen up and once again meet at the beach-side on the patio for hors’deovres and drinks AND to watch the sun set and snap pictures.
The sunsets are incredible at Siesta Key! Planning dinner was a daily adventure trying to decide whether to go out to eat and where, or grill something (either fresh bought fish or meat) and share a dish that everyone would bring.

Evenings ended somewhat early for us since we were early risers and baked from sunning all day, not to mention cocktails and full bellies.
After a week of beautiful weather, fun with friends and family, great accommodations and delicious meals, we headed back to our hometowns with great hopes of returning again in a year or so.
