Port St Lucie Vacations - Hidden Treasure

Port St Lucie Vacations - Hidden Treasure

Port St Lucie Florida travel is the way to go if you ask a true Floridian.

When it comes to Florida beaches to visit, many people think of the big-name beaches as the place to go like Miami Beach, Pensacola Florida Beach, a Cocoa Beach Florida vacation, or Daytona Beach. But some of the lesser-known beaches along the state's Atlantic coast harbor perfect sun and fun destinations as well.

Port St Lucie is one of these. Port St Lucie is actually a city that is a little ways inland, and butts up against Fort Pierce, Jenson Beach and Vero Beach.

Start planning your Port St Lucie Florida travel now!

Beach life in this area is very laid back. You can enjoy warm, crystal clear waters and stroll along picking up shells and sea glass all day.

If you want to be a little more active, there are a number of boating, fishing and swimming spots along the shore and you can even try your skills with some water sports like parasailing and jet skiing.

If you are a fishing fan and like to enjoy what you eat, you may want to show up in snook season. You can't order snook, but if you catch it, many of the local restaurants will cook it up for you.

There are two seasons each year. The first begins on February 1st and runs through the end of May. The other begins September 1st and ends December 14th.

That doesn't mean there is nothing to do in Port St Lucie and the surrounding Florida beaches the rest of the time.

Since the city is located near I-95, you have fast access to any of the nightlife locations that are nearby, while still being able to enjoy the peace and quiet of Port St. Lucie when you are done partying and want a little rest.

If you want to know what the locals are up to try to be in town the first Friday of the month.

This is their Friday Fest in Fort Pierce, which is a fun street party with local artisans and food vendors. You can get out and play like the locals do.

Not a big drinking and dancing nightlife person? How about getting back to nature at night? There are a number of sea turtles on the endangered species list that choose the beaches in the Port St Lucie area as a place to lay their eggs.

If you are around in the summer months, when they are laying, you can take guided nature walks to see the nests and turtles. If you show up late in the season you may be lucky enough to catch a night of hatchings and watch the new little turtles take their first steps into the ocean.

Tradition Field, the home of the New York Mets Spring Training is also in this area, so you may be able to catch a game while on vacation.

Really want to get a view of the area, try seeing it from above with Balloons Over Florida. This is a hot air balloon ride over the whole area that is based in Jensen Beach and is a unique and romantic way to play.

When it comes to accommodations, there are plenty of places to stay in Port St Lucie. If you want to stay in the city itself, you will want the inland options like the Holiday Inn Port St. Lucie Hotel, Hampton Inn Port St. Lucie-west, Best Western Port St Lucie. If you prefer being closer to the beach.

You may want to consider the Courtyard Hutchinson Island Oceanside/Jensen Beach, Island Beach Resort or Jensen Beach Waterfront Inn

On a budget? Locations like Vistana's Beach Club have a kitchen in the room so you can cook your own family meals and save money that way.
