Our set of tips can provide for any type of pet, however we will be focusing on dogs and cats for the most part. They entail more planning when it comes to pet care while you travel. So, here is how this page is set up...

Let's face it, your beloved pet is a member of the family. So, I have enrolled our CRO, Googs (our dog and chief relaxation officer), to give you the best quality information related to making sure your pet is well taken care of during your discount Florida vacations.

Pet Central Travel Tips & Reminders...

Pet central reminder #1 is...

You will want to determine if you are taking your pet to the pet friendly beaches in Florida. This will make your search for pet friendly hotels in Florida, plane tickets, and car pet travel a bit different.

Although we all love our pets, they do have the possibility of leaving hair, tearing things up, & causing other mischief that could cost you in the long run.

I know your pet is perfect- that is what Googs says too. Oh, if I am the only pet owner to talk to their pet like they're human, then you will think I am very wierd.

Anyhow, if you are going to leave them behind, we always recommend a trusted family member. A week or two may be a burden on them, but if your pet is well behaved, they shouldn't mind taking care of them. I mean, you will return the favor or already have right?

Another option is a kennel. As a kid, my parents would leave our dogs in a trusted kennel while we traveled to the Florida beaches. Make sure you know who you are leaving them with. You want your pet to be treated well and taken care of.

Pet central reminder #2 is...

Determine if your pet is ok for travel. Just like kids and spouses, pets can become irritated if they aren't used to travel.

Assess their ability to pet travel. Any medical conditions? How old are they? What does your vet say? Have they traveled before and how long was the trip? Get the point? I would love to take my pet to the pet friendly beaches in Florida and have fun, but sometimes it just isn't adequate.

Also, schedule a visit with your Veterinarian to go over their health and any other necessities your pet may need when they travel.

Your Vet will know all the precautions you'll want to take (vaccinations, fleas, heartworm, Florida pet travel issues, etc..), so you can enjoy your trip with an excited and energetic dog or cat!!

Pet central reminder #3 is...

Verify that your pet's tags are current and on a strong collar. This will be important if the worst case scenerio happens, they get lost. I hate to mention it, but if it does happen, we want you to be prepared.

I would be devastated if Googs was lost, so here are a few tips on what to do to ensure you'll find them safe and sound...

Bring a recent photograph and description of your pet including name, breed, sex, age, any specific numbers, and a description of coat, color and markings including any unusual markings, scars, or other identifying marks, as well as weight and height. These will be invaluable if your pet does become separated during your discount Florida vacations.

Pet central reminder #4 is...

They offer reviews, plenty of information for making your decision, and competitive deals... Find the best deal, compare prices and read what other travelers have to say at TripAdvisor This link will take you to their Florida home page. Pet travel varies across the state, so you'll have to do some searches and read reviews.

Some final pet central reminders want to mention include...

be a bear for detail. If you fly, make sure you know the airlines rules and regulations. Avoid travel during busy times (ie. weekends), so your pet gets the quality care it needs.

Keep all your pet information in a safe place, know that there are risks to pet travel, and have common courtesy and use common sense while traveling to and during your Florida vacation.
