Panama City Beach Spring Break

by Joe
(Ohio)

This is my Panama City Beach Spring Break story. It was a few years ago, but from what I know many things are still the same.

I've alluded to this topic throughout this site, but wanted to share it in one story.

Senior year in high school and freshman year in college, 4-6 of us heading down to the beaches in Panama City Florida to party like crazy and have a good time unwinding for a week.

Senior year we took 2 cars down with 6 of us guys. We ended up having to stay down from the strip in an Econo Lodge, but it turned out to be a lot of fun and there were some good looking ladies staying there as well.

Days Inn and Holiday Inn (our two main choices) were booked so far in advance, that we had no chance. Some classmates of ours stay at a little roach motel across from the beach, but we were quite happy with our choice.

Our hotel was small for 6 guys, but considering we basically came home to crash, it was fine. It was next to a Waffle House style breakfast joint that we visited often that week.

We ended up finding a gym in town that let us use their facilities for the week for like $20.

Everyday we did what most spring breakers did. We'd hit up the beach during the day. Behind the Days Inn they'd have a lot going on as MTV was there. We were lucky that our spring break mixed in with some of the major colleges which made it a big time party.

We'd pack a cooler and the 6 of us would pile in the cars to head down for some fun.

After about 6 hours doing that we'd head back to the hotel and get cleaned up. We'd hit up some grub and then cruise the strip looking for something to do, ladies to meet, and so forth.

One car we took down was an SUV - we'd put down the tailgate and sit on the back of it while cruising. One night my buddy was pulling onto the main roadway into the beach area and went too fast. Low and behold I fell out onto the causeway and was almost hit by a car. Thank God that didn't turn out bad other than a few scratches.

Word of warning. Be careful on spring break!!

We did the Club La Vela thing one night which was fun but very crowded. We'd end up having more fun cruising the strip. We'd pack a cooler, drink some cocktails, and meet people. If we saw a party we'd crash.

Our final night a bunch of us decided to get tatoos. That turned out to be fun, but expensive. I actually blacked out for a minute - yeah I know I'm a lightweight on needles. Looking back I wished I had gotten something different, but that's the decision I have to live with.

All in all we had an excellent time. It mostly revolved around cruising, drinking, beach time, meeting girls, eating, and having fun together.

I have left out a lot of the details to keep it G-rated.

Out of the 3 years I went to Florida for spring break, the senior year trip was the best. The next year we headed back down to Panama City Florida, but it was cold the week we went. Plus, most of us were so tired from pledging/hell week that we didn't feel like doing anything.

The year after that a bunch of us went to Orlando to watch our girlfriends play softball and get away. Nothing fancy that year, but we still had a good time. We stayed at a Days Inn and had a tiki bar at our hotel which we frequented a bit.

Spring break in Orlando isn't quite what it is in Panama City, Cancun, or other popular spring break beach spots.

Bottom line - have a great spring break and enjoy the time because as you get older your vacations will change quite a bit. Just be safe!

Enjoy some excellent spring break pictures - I am unable to find my memories from spring break, so these you can enjoy.
