There is not point in paying for a cruise from Florida if your accomodations are treacherous.
So, we have included our tips on how not to miss the boat when booking your last minute cruise and avoid savings pitfalls!!

- 60 Days Until You Leave Port:
Many travelers don't know this little secret, but this is the last day cruisers can cancel their trip without a penalty. This will allow the cruise line to know what they have ahead of them regarding reservations and if they don't like the number of empty rooms, they will drop rates for last mintute goers.
- Off Peak Will Get You a Last Minute Cruise Deal:
We've mentioned this before, but off-peak travel can get you a cruise special. Peak hurricane season (Aug-Oct) is the time to get the best deals if you want to battle mother nature. Jan-Mar is wave season, so keep that in mind.
- Do Your Homework:
Yes, it can be boring to read the fine print and shop around a bit, but if you keep planning your cruise vacation fun, it will be more exciting and you'll have a good time if you plan wisely. Don't let the cruise line get one up on you if you go the discount cruise route by not reading all the terms and conditions.
- Remember you must pay to get there and back!
Don't give up value on a last minute cruise deal by having to pay more for airfare and other necessities of travel. Figure in all costs before you leave port.
- Use the Internet:
It's obvious I'm a big advocate of the Internet for travel. Using a travel agency for planning a cruise traditionally could be a good idea, but finding a last minute cruise deal is best when done yourself (from what I've seen). There are a few online sites that specialize in these deals - vacationstogo.com and 4cruise.com (free quote offered) are two that come to mind. With many online travel suppliers offering special search tools, last minute email alerts, and last minute auction capabilities, they open opportunities in achieving your last minute cruise with very little effort, and practically stress free.
Some additional reminders include, be careful on offshore excursions- they can get very expensive; stay away from your phone and computer for the trip (hey leave work at home); keep shopping onboard to a minimum; remember drinks and gambling aren't free and can add up on those little cards (all the food you can eat though!!!); keep your personal information handy; and pack your own equipment (i.e. scuba stuff).
