Hey, we know you are on a budget and there are plenty of items you may need to buy before
you leave. Many of the kid travel games and activities are quite inexpensive if you look in the right spots. You just want
to make sure you have something to keep them amused while you are traveling and relaxing
on the beaches.
Kid Travel Games
Be sure that when you choose your kid travel games you notice the ages.
Being a parent and buying your child toys and such, you know there are labels
for kids from babies, to toddlers, to preschoolers, to elementary schoolers, to older
kids (pre-teens and teens).
For babies, don't forget any of their toys you can fit into a bag. Rattles, shiny toys,
or anything you have that you know keeps them busy. Plus, don't forget to pack their necessities
(diapers, hats, wipes, bottles, seats/carriers, etc...)
Bottom line is, you know your child better than anyone. You know what they like and don't like.
You also know what you have at home that they play with and what they don't. Ask them? This can
help. There are so many types of kid travel games that we could go on forever. It seems
that everyday there is something new. So, to save you time, why not just search yourselves.

Free Travel Games!
Some of our favorite kid travel games that are actually fun for everyone include...
1. The alphabet game- (if you drive of course). Who can get from A to Z first by getting letters anywhere from license plates, to billboards, to signs. It's really fun.
2. Name that artist game. Listen to different types of music and see who can name the artist of different songs.
3. Twenty questions is great. You ask a question and the person who knows the answer says yes or know. Like, they have a person, place, or thing in mind. You ask questions to get clues to find the answer.
4. Scavenger Hunt. You pick something outside the car. Give a hint and the others have to guess it. Like, I see something green. They answer based on that clue.
5. Another type of Alphabet game-
This is one we played on our trip home. Say you have to pick movie titles or some theme and as you go down the alphabet, each person has to come up with an answer to that particular letter.
We had a blast and it made the trip go much faster!!
These are just a few Free kid travel games. Be creative and have fun while traveling to Florida!!
Books and Magazines
Young kids are so inquisitive when traveling that the sites can keep them busy (if you drive).
Make sure you point out the scenery and landmarks as you travel. We also used to play
games like 20 questions, the alphabet game, scavenger hunt type games (like I see something
that is green...what is it?), etc...
However, if you fly or get bored after a while, books and magazines will give them something
to read. For a list of great books try checking Amazon. They have a great selection
of children's books and kid travel games.
For magazines, Amazon is good, but we like Magazines.com . They have over 800 magazines available. They even give some proceeds to charity,
which is really neat in this day and age.
Toys
You will want to take toys for your kids on top of kid travel games and books.
Beach toys will also be good to have so that you can enjoy the beaches and
know your children are safe and entertained. This reminds me of a funny story...
Bear with me a sec...
When I was about 4 and my brother was 2, my parents took us
to Florida. One day my Dad headed down the beach and my brother ran after him.
I stayed back at our spot with my mom. Well, a few minutes later my Dad came back, without
my brother. We looked everywhere and could not find him. Finally, we found him
sitting on some strangers blanket, down the beach, eating a sandwhich. It's funny now,
but at the time, it wasn't.
Point of the story is keep an eye on your kids, but make
sure they are occupied with fun toys.
Some beach toys you can take are kid travel games, books, balls, shovels and pales,
floating devices (these are good for the water too), sporting equipment (football, baseball stuff,
etc...), and anything else that is new out today.
As for toys, be sure you look around your house to see what they already have. What can
you pack that won't be all over the place (i.e. toys in the aile of an airplane)?
What can they borrow from friends? Figurines, dolls, stuffed animals (these are great
for sleeping with and making them fell comfortable), and so forth.

to Florida!!***
Electronics and Games
On top of simple and fun kid travel games, these items are a MUST HAVE
when you need a breather and want some peace and quiet.
- Game Boys and any other handheld game. Games boys are probably the most
economical, but the Sony PSP is an awesome system that the kids will love (it is
a bit more expensive though). I have
seen my nieces and nephews play either one of these for hours. Also, make sure
they have a case to carry them in, games to go with them, and batteries.
- Portable DVD players. I see kids with these all the time now. They are great
at restaurants, in the car, on the beach, or anywhere you are where they have to
sit still for longer than a minute. The hubby will enjoy it too...My wife can't stand
the fact that I can't sit still, so she bought me one to relax!! You can get a quality
one for less than a couple hundred dollars. Also, make sure you have batteries, carrying
cases, and DVD's. We just want your belongings to be safe.
- MP3 players, IPods, and other Music Players. These are great for anyone, not just kids.
As I get older, I am beginning to understand why my parents hated my choices in music as
I was young, especially as a teenager. This way you get to listen to your music and
your children can listen to theirs. These are the new fad in music, so be sure you
take one!!
