Are You Going to Key West Fl? Discover How to Ensure a Great Vacation

Is Key West Fl worth going to? Hell Yes. It is worth going. Key West is a lot of fun and very unique from the rest of Florida. It's the southern most point in the U.S. It is famous for its sunsets, conch fritters and Hemingway's house. Jimmy Buffet is the unofficial mayor. It's also a beautiful drive along Hwy 1. It's about a 4 hour drive from Miami and the drive down was half the fun! It is a vacation spot you must visit at least once. In fact, we have an entire page devoted to Key West Fl as one of the best Florida vacation spots, but it seems that our visitors want more of this amazing vacation destination. We have been there before and fell in love with the place. In this section, we have compiled some reviews, stories, articles, and more regarding Florida Keys vacations. Please tell me the places which no one should miss in Key West Fl...Key West Fl is about atmosphere. Every night is a Friday night there. Skip any kind of beach/snorkeling. A must is SUNSET. One of the best places to watch sunset is at Mallory Square, and it will get crowded with people, so find out what time sunset is--and go early...and watch the sun fall off the ocean. Mallory Square is an area where there's "street entertainment". I think they call it the SUNSET CELEBRATION. So, you can totally hang out there, get a drink or many, watch some interesting acts and kill time. There is a good falafel guy there, DEAD HEAD, great falafels. Visit the southernmost point--take a picture there. Visit Hemingway's, Audubon House(very pretty)...both my favorites--but there are a lot of historical places there...depends on if History is your thing. There are some interesting churches too.
For eats...Must do Blue Heaven for breakfast...or I guess anytime. It's an interesting restaurant. Try to hit restaurants like Mangoes, Kelly's would have more local cuisine. Get some key lime pie! Try to avoid restaurant chains---like Hard Rock. Jimmy Buffett's place--it's ok...go if you must. There are many bars...Hog's breath, Sloppy Joe's, Rick's. If you walk Duval street, you will totally hit all the major bars, restaurants, shopping...etc.
My suggestion, rent bikes or scooters. Venture around, stop when you see something interesting. Key West is not big....you can totally get it done in a day. The bulk of the interesting things will be near all the main things on Duval. And if you stay the night, make sure you are near Duval St. Top of La Concha Inn has a bar, highest point in Key West...not sure if you can go if you aren't guests...but it might be a good place to check out, take pictures of Florida beaches and other areas there, see sunset, etc. If you are driving down---check out Islamorada Florida vacations. It's a good 1/2 way point. There are a good restaurants...Lorelei's (love it), Islamorada Fish Company, Bentley's. Also, there is good souvenir shopping there. Rain Barrel is neat. In fact the Florida Keys offer a unique experience at each stop! ------------------ Let's See Another Keys Story...I have lived there. Bahia Honda State Park is where you want to go for some nice clear water, it's up the keys. Key West doesn't really have very good beaches, since it is overdeveloped. Don't focus on just Key West Fl, check out the other islands..Stay away from Stock Island...it's right before you get to Key West..It's not a very safe place. Make sure you check out the Hemingway house, and Sloppy Joe's..There's LOTS to do there..You won't be disappointed. Key West is a very "hippy" type of place. Don't be surprised if you see people wearing tie dye, patchouli, and Birkenstock. Key West Fl high has a great giant conch shell (school mascot) you can take some nice photos in front of..I enjoyed living there, but living on an island does tend to grow old after a while. You can get some great seafood there, just do yourself a favor and order some Key Lime Pie for desert. Oh Key West has "protected" chickens, it is illegal to hurt them. When you're driving down there, be careful of the Key deer, they're endangered. Bring lots of sunscreen, and enjoy!~smiles Bahia Honda State Park is MUCH cheaper than a boat excursion..if you want to save some money that is...If you have kids, they can look for seahorses and tiny crabs in the seaweed. Just use a bucket to scoop up the seaweed and then examine it to see if you caught anything. Watch out for stingrays (on remote beaches)they like hiding under the sand, sometimes you can make out their outlines. Their sting hurts really bad. Also watch out for jelly fish.

Some Key Places to Stay In Key West Fl... I recommend the Best Western on Roosevelt. It's not cheap, especially for those dates, but it's nice. You're not going to find cheap in Key West anytime in March, that's their busiest month.
Sunrise Suites, Island Dreams, Key West Hideaways and Center Court all offer short-term (7-28 days) apartment rentals. Best thing to do is Google local real estate agents, who will be able to hook you up. Staying for three weeks you are likely to want a bit of space and privacy, swimming pool and free car parking. Or try Rent Key West: 305-294-0990. Casa Marina, on the south side of Key West Fl. The Marquesa is lovely -- very romantic and intimate. The rooms surround a courtyard with two beautiful pools -- an unheated one with a small waterfall going into it, and a heated free-form shaped one. The courtyard is full of orchids and tropical plantings. Guests are requested to turn off their cell phones in the common areas -- and people actually do!! It adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The Marquesa in in Old Town, but just a couple of blocks from all the action on Duval Street -- an ideal location. I think the Marquesa is a perfect choice for you unless you're determined to have a water view. We've recommended it to friends who say they feel totally spoiled after staying there. My husband and I prefer the Galleon for a couple of reasons: we're there for several weeks at a time and really need the convenience of a full kitchen and washing machine and dryer, and we're absolutely committed to having a water view! For a shorter stay I don't think there's anything better in Key West than the Marquesa. Click here for the best hotels and reviews in Key West Fl

More Fan Favorites for Dining In Key West Fl...Not sure where to stay but you HAVE to eat at El Meson De Pepe's Restaurant in Key West! It has the most amazing cuban food you can imagine! There are live roosters running around outside and is next to a very historic monument of great individuals in Key West Fl history. I rate it a 10/10!
