So, You Want to Make The Florida Move or Buy A Vacation Home?
Making a Florida move is a big deal and there is a lot to consider. In fact, many people who love to vacation there find it to be quite different once they actually arrive to live there.
The numbers are staggering – nearly thousands of people make the Florida move everyday with a good portion of them moving back to their home state. It is a beautiful place, but it can be like kids. Watching them can be fun knowing that you can give them back in a couple of hours.
Remember the beach areas are spectacular and set up for tourists and snowbirds (which is always an option). Go inland and into certain parts and the scenery changes drastically.
Also, the weather in Florida can be treacherous. Hurricanes are almost always a given, the heat can get unbearable, and if you are from an area with seasons, most people seem to miss them when they’re gone.
Don’t get me wrong, we absolutely love Florida, but we want to make sure you know what you’re getting into. Now, I have met Floridians who have moved away from there only to return. I just met a lady the other day who hated the day she made the decision to move North.
There are some great areas to live as we mention them throughout the site. There are sites that travelers frequent often and other cities that are quieter and less occupied. There are many spots in Florida that retirees flock to and others that cater to the rich and famous.
Making a Florida move involves a lot of things including, movers, selling your home, buying/renting a new home, picking a location, finding a job (unless that is your reason for moving), finding schools, making sure you are in good neighborhoods, learning your way around, and so much more.
A great website to start at regarding all this is

Their site offers a multitude of items that you will need to consider.
Other than that if you are going to make the Florida move for temporary reasons – seasonal weather, second home, etc, then great! We love the idea of having a second home to get away to whenever you get the chance.
Great for the cold seasons if you live in those regions, for holidays, vacations, and even to make money (by renting out while you are not there).
This however will involve a different set of criteria. One you will want to find a good realty company to work with. If you have ever been to Florida, you will know there are more realty companies than McDonalds. Finding a good one is the key.
You will also need a management company to handle the property while you are away. This is easily done if you buy a condo or utilizing the realty company’s management services.
Overall a Florida move can be a great idea as long as you understand what you are getting into. You only live once right and you might as well live where you want and do what you want while you can.
