Boating & Florida Charters Is An Awesome Day Trip!

See why you should rent a boat for the day as one of the things to do in Florida...

Me hotrodding on the open seas in our Florida charterFlorida charters are an awesome way to explore the ocean and intercoastals of Florida! We spent a whole day boating in the Gulf of Mexico and wanted to share our experience with you.

Whether you want to cruise, explore, scuba, snorkel, parasail, ski, fish, or just get sun and have fun, taking a boat for the day is a perfect way to do any of this.

Renting a boat for the day was something that I have never done on the ocean around Florida. The price was reasonable as well. It ran us about $200 for 1/2 a day plus gas. Compare that to a seadoo trip that ran $85 for an hour (which we love doing). Plus, I didn't want to ride tandem, because Angie is nuts on a seadoo.

So, the decision was easy. We obtained one of the many Florida charters and headed out into the deep sea to explore the beauty of the Florida beaches and coastline from the water!

We got up early, sat on our deck taking in the Florida seabreeze and sunrise, enjoyed a cup of coffee, and headed over to a spot in Sarasota Florida called Marina Jacks.

All kinds of beautiful boats and yachts were docked there. We decided on one of the Florida charters our in-laws had rented from before and highly recommended. Plus, since we had boating experience, we didn't need a supervisor (unless you call my father-in-law a supervisor- LOL!).

Be the captain of the boat for a dayNow, we didn't get some big sailboat or luxurious yacht for our Florida charters boat trip, just a Hurricane with an outboard engine, tons of room for the four of us, and plenty of fun!

We headed out to the intercoastal to witness some awesome scenery, unbelievable homes, the ocean like I've never seen it before, and so much more...

The amazing thing that we couldn't get over was how shallow certain areas were. If we didn't follow the paths, we found ourselves in water that was less than a foot deep, and this was out in the middle of the bay of Sarasota Florida.

Since I had never been on a boat in the ocean, we headed out to the Gulf immediately. The waters were choppy, but the view was amazing. We were about a mile off the Gulf Coast shore and drove all up and down the coast. We saw our condo from the boat (on Lido Key), Longboat Key, Siesta Key, other Florida charters, and plenty of birds feeding off the marine life.

Take a pic from small boats to luxury yachtsAfter about an hour, Ang ended up with a headache because of the rough waters, so we ventured back into the bay to have some lunch. The Old Salty Dog was right on the water and so was this other little restaurant that we had to try!

We docked our boat at a place called, New Pass Grill. They had the best burgers, beer, and bait (no we didn't eat that) you could buy right on the water. It had to be one of the coolest spots we stopped at all week. Perfect for Florida charters, fishing, and great food.

After lunch, we coasted around the bay of Sarasota Florida admiring the million dollar homes. We said they needed a sign out front explaining who lived there and how they obtained all that money!

At that point we still had a few hours left- and we only rented the Florida charters boat for half a day- so we cruised down one of the waterways. Angie and her mom did some swimming, I got to drive, we saw some dolphins right next to us, took in the view, got plenty of sun, and had a blast!

Enjoy a different view of Florida sunsets from a charterNow, we were quite exhausted and decided to head back in. What a day! Only 4 hours and we did so much and such a good time!

The crazy part was when we pulled in to get gas. There was a Florida yacht right next to us filling up. Gas was rediculous at that point, but when the guy said it took 2000 gallons to fill up, our jaws dropped!

Anyhow, it was a faboulous time and the next time you head to Florida, you must schedule a day or half a day to rent one of the Florida charters and explore the sea like never before!!!

Definitely one of my favorite things to do in Florida!!
